Red Raiders Finish Sixth at Amer Ari Invitational

KONA, Hawaii – Texas Tech senior Ivan Ramirez shot 7-under-par to lead the Red Raiders who finished in sixth place at the Amer Ari Invitational on Saturday at the Waikoloa Kings’ Course.

Ramirez would tie for 12th individually after posting a 68-73-68 – 209 three-round total, while Adam Blomme shot 68-70-72 – 210 (4-under) which put him in 18th. Sophomore Kyle Hogan carded a 66-72-74 – 212 in the first tournament of the spring followed by Sandy Scott (67-74-72 – 213) and Jansen Smith (79-68-71 – 218). Thomas Allkins finished 75th overall as an individual with a 70-76-76 – 222).

No. 1 Oklahoma State won the team title after posting a 47-under total (267-273-277 – 817), while No. 16 Auburn was second at 37-under followed by No. 14 Texas (-35), No. 8 Southern Cal and No. 45 Oregon (-30). The Red Raiders were sixth of 18 at 29-under after a three-day scorecard of 269-283-283 (835) to top TCU (14-under) and No. 2 Georgia Tech. Oklahoma State’s Matthew Wolff won the tournament after shooting 18-under (69-64-65 – 198), while Edwin Yi (Oregon) and Zach Bauchou (Oklahoma State) tied for second at 15-under.

Blomme led the Red Raiders with 13 birdies in the 54-hole tournament, while Ramirez had two eagles and 12 birdies. Hogan, who was in third after his opening-round 66, had 11 birdies in the tournament and led the team with 37 pars.

The Red Raiders will return to competition on Feb. 22-24 at the Desert Classic in Palm Springs, California.
