Red Raiders 75 South Alabama 50

It’s another exciting year of Red Raider Basketball. A year ago, Chris Beard took over the Red Raiders and in his first year started to create a program with a goal of returning to the NCAA tournament. Falling short in several games, the Red Raiders dream slipped through their fingers. But tonight, the Red & Black return the the USA for the Red Raider Revenge Tour.

Chris Beard said the story of the “core four” would be either one of triumph or that not interesting of a story to tell. With a senior filled lineup, Beard & Texas Tech fans has one goal: dancing!

The trip starts tonight versus the Jaguars of South Alabama.

First Half Highlights:

Morretti comes into the came with 16:57 left in first half. Odiase enters the game woth 16:35 left in 1st.

Odiase’s first points of the 2017 season comes on a sky hook.

Zhaire Smith first basket of the year comes on a slam dunk to make it 12-7.

The Jaguars have their first lead at 9:01 at 14-12 but the Red Raiders drive back punctuated with a MONSTER SLAM from Justin Gray.

Both teams are shooting poorly with the first twelve minutes of the game in. Jaguars are shooting 4-11 for 36.4% while the Red Raiders are shooting 6-18 for 33.3%

Webster enters the game at 4:51 in the 1st half with the Red Raiders leading 22-19

2nd Half Highlights

 

Red Raiders are a gritty, gutsy team who are very streaky. But this is the first game, what can we tell from one game?

Nothing. Still to early in the season.

1st one was Zhaire Smith.

Tommy Hamilton puts in a rebound for 2 and extends the Red Raider lead to 50-37 forcing a South Alabama time out.

But he didn’t call bank…

Red Raiders are on a 7-0 run

Make that a 14-3 run to extend the lead to 58-40.

Would you believe a 17-3 run over last 6:27?

Red Raiders have a comfortable lead but there are plenty for the Red Raiders to work on.

Fans should be excited about the future of the Red Raiders with the impact of Zhaire Smith, Jarrett Culver and Davide Moretti had tonight.
