Internships at Wilks Broadcasting - Lubbock

The internship program at Wilks Broadcasting - Lubbock has been a part of our success in our community. Most departments at our radio group have had at least one former intern as an employee.

Production : Production interns assist in production of commercials under the guidance of our Production Director. Tasks may include audio production, creating and posting podcasts, writing spots and special projects as needed. 

Programming: This position calls for an enthusiastic, eager and detail-oriented individual with strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent organizational abilities, and the ability to think on one’s feet. Applicants must represent station in a positive manner at station events. Your duties include preparing for and working at promotional events and remote broadcasts, taking photos during events/promotions and posting them on social media/website immediately following events. You will also enter listeners into our database and other duties as necessary. Additionally, you will work on projects preparing for the KLLL CMN Radiothon that takes place during the Spring Semester. You must be comfortable interacting with employees, clients, and listeners. Video editing / web design skills a plus, though not required.

Sales: The sales intern will assist the sales assistant in creating sales marketing materials that will be used to up sell current clients and sell prospects advertising campaigns. The intern will work on sales initiatives that connect radio advertising with online advertising opportunities. 

Web: Seeking a talented and creative intern to assist with daily web maintenance, video editing, graphic design and story and photo posting on any of the four Wilks Broadcasting - Lubbock stations. Must be able to work independently with direction, interact well with a variety of personalities, and have the ability to take initiative. This is an opportunity to contribute to the station website and gain valuable hands-on experience. Candidates for this position should be experienced with: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Dreamweaver, content management systems, and basic video and audio production. Schedule is flexible, but applicants must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours a week.

Interns are selected on the basis of professional potential. We utilize our internship program as a training ground for future employees BUT not all interns will get hired here.  This isn’t a coffee-fetching, grunt work internship. Interns make friends and contacts that they can network with as they start their career. Our interns are to handle duties that require the utmost in trust, responsibility, diligence, detail and enthusiasm.

You MUST be a current college student (junior, senior, post-graduate) and the internship must be taken for credit.
We are flexible in the hours that you keep as long as you finish the required number of hours required by your respective college program.
