the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the New Mexico Lobos.

Texas Tech is 2-0 and New Mexico is 1-1 . Tech will have a bye week next week as they prepare for the beginning of Big 12 play on the road against the Cyclones of Iowa State.
The Lobos won the toss and will receive. Tech will defend the south goal, which with the addition of the students and band has become a formidable place to try and score.
Touchback Lobos 1st and 10 at the Lobo 25.
With the first play the Lobos tried to throw to the outside but the speed of the Red Raiders is significant. Even with a QB option on second down the Lobos found their way to a 3rd and 4. Time for a defensive stop,
And even with the 2nd too many men in the backfield penalty, the defense BLEW the play up and forced the Lobox to punt.
Red Raiders will start 1st and 10 at their own 43.
After a short run, Hellooo Darrin Moore with a first down catch. What happens when you're afraid of the pass? You leave a 12 yard run for Kenny Williams

Foster runs for 7 and a broken play ends up with a block in the back penalty when Doege had to scramble on a 3rd and 3 play. Penalty moves them back to the 33 but Eric Stephens says "GIVE ME THE BALL" And he muscles it to the Lobo 20.

Unsportsmanlike conduct after the play and Tech will kick off from their 20. No wind to mention as the flags are barely moving.
The drive took 8 plays and covered 57 yards in 2:40 , with 11:05 left in the 1st it's Texas Tech 7, New Mexico 0.
Kick return starts at the 8 but Blake Dees tackle makes sure that the Lobos won't start at the 25. So the penalty doesn't hurt the Raiders. But a HOLDING penalty against the Lobos will make sure that they start at their own 12.
The Red Raiders D-Line is MAN HANDLING the Lobos O-line .
The Lobos were successful against Texas running, but they are finding significant problems against the Red Raider D. They are forcing the Lobos to pitch.
A nice 58 yard punt causes the Red Raiders to start at their own 25 for their second drive.
Will the Air Raid sirens sound or will the Ground Pound begin against the Lobos?
Air Raid for 11 to Darrin Moore. Then a blown snap causes Doege to eat it for a one yard loss.
Get your first downs here. Marquez for a Red Raider 1st down which is significant cause it puts him over 5,000 career passing yards for the Red Raiders.

I am impressed that the D is forcing the option to actually have to be used.
Lobos want an offsides but none was called and the quick pass ends up incomplete. The frustration causes New Mexico to call a time out that is changed to a media time out.
Holbrook called his number on a draw and was short by a half a yard which brings up a big 4th down for New Mexico and they will go for it.
Toss right on the Option and the Lobos will have a 1st and 10 from the 45
The Lobos keep driving and pounding to the left and right all the way to the Red Raider 21.

A trick play to Lucas Reed falls incomplete. But the Lobos convert on an inside slant and it's 1st and goal for the Lobos at the Red Raider 6.
2 yard TD run for the Lobos and the lead is cut to 14-7 with 13:41 left in the 1st half.
17 plays, 79 yards in 7 min and 41 seconds. How do you keep the talented Red Raider offense off the field. POUND THE BALL and keep the clock moving.
Kickoff goes for a touchback and Red Raiders start at the 25. A 4 yard run by Kenny Williams is helped by a 15 yard face mask penalty. Red Raiders continue driving and swallowing yards in chunks.
